Did anyone notice that everyone Nick “The Mutant” Walker attacked in a recent video are all competitors that he must personally fear when it comes to the 2023 Mr. Olympia? The only guy he didn’t mention was 2022 Mr. Olympia runner-up Derek Lunsford. I’m not really sure what that’s all about, but Walker was also not asked about Lunsford so that might be the most obvious explanation. His remark about reigning Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan as being “a one hit wonder” was definitely one that’s made the rounds throughout social media.
When asked about 2023 Arnold Classic champion Samson Dauda, he made it seem as if Samson’s greatness was overrated and went on to say that “his back is flat as a board.” That kind of rhetoric is unlike The Mutant, but perhaps he still hasn’t been able to process the massive defeat he suffered at his hands in Columbus. It was not a close contest. No one had Walker beating Dauda – not a single outlet. What’s even more troubling for the HD Muscle athlete is that a great many fans had Andrew Jacked beating him at the second largest bodybuilding show in the world as well.
Walker was none too kind to Jacked who he believes won’t crack the Olympia Top 6. That’s pretty shocking considering Andrew’s phenomenal physique, great structure, and possessing the kind of aesthetics Nick could only dream of. There’s a reason so many people were shocked that The Mutant was wedged between Dauda and Jacked in the placings in Columbus. Quite frankly it made no sense to have two perfectly dialed in, muscled, and balanced guys battling with a mass monster, but such is the subjectiveness of physique-based sports.
Nick has a jaw-dropping look. Please no one misconstrue that. However, he has an ugly look as compared to Dauda, Jacked, and guys who bank on artistic flow and more classic type symmetry. The main reason Dauda won in Columbus, however, is that he’s a throwback to the Lee Haney approach of mass with class. Nick just can’t compete with that. Plus Dauda is working on his back and Jacked is working on improvements as well. The sad reality for Nick is that he can’t change the cards he’s dealt. All he can do is up his freak game, add more size, and maybe come even more conditioned, but his look will never be like that of Samson or Jacked.
It’s no shock to me that Walker lashed out at Samson and Andrew, but there’s more here at play that sour grapes over Columbus. I feel that by attacking these guys, as well as Hadi, that he wants more attention.
By suggesting that 2019 Mr. Olympia Brandon Curry wouldn’t be in the Top 6 and essentially saying that 2x Mr. Olympia Big Ramy was finished, it just seems to speak more to my point about attetion. I think Nick is feeling the pressure of the upcoming Olympia and if anyone may place substantially lower than expected, it might just be him. This might explain why he’s done what he always said he wouldn’t do – engage in toxic negativity just to be relevant.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
