Nick Walker, William Bonac Battle In New York

Normally after a hard fought win, I would congratulate the winner. After all that’s good sportsmanship, right? Well here is the deal, I’m not really happy with the fact that Nick Walker defeated William Bonac at the 2025 New York Pro. It’s not so much an apples and oranges type argument, either. I don’t like Nick’s physique because I think his proportions are all out of whack, I don’t think he’s got good aesthetics, and I don’t think he’s striving for the ideals of bodybuilding.

Bodybuilding should not be a mass contest. It should not be about who can put on the most muscle and just take that to the stage. If this were a “Who can build the most muscle contest,” then I would give the nod to Nick. I might even consider giving him the most muscular award. What I would not consider giving him is the victory in the third biggest bodybuilding show in the world. And not only that, but this is the third time he wins this coveted title.

The Future Of Bodybuilding?

Last year, Nick prevailed in a controversial decision against Martin Fitzwater. This year Nick wins against a bodybuilding legend that was on point. In what world does The Michelin Man beat an old school bodybuilder that absolutely nails his condition and poses hard? And worse yet, at one of the biggest physique-based contests on the planet?

The Conqueror vs The Mutant

I don’t like the fact that the former Night of Champions has become a sort of guaranteed Olympia qualification for Nick Walker. And that’s just what it is. He knows that he’s going to go to New York and he’s going to win – no matter what. Even last year, when industry lackeys like Bob Cicherilllo had Martin winning, the win went to Nick. It just seems like Nick could win 4, 5, maybe 6 of these titles.

William buried 3rd, 4th & 5th!!

Not only that, but Nick’s physique is not getting any better. He may be getting BIGGER, but he’s not getting BETTER! Moreover, I see what will potentially become an issue with Nick’s midsection and I think his waist is only going to get bigger in the process. I’m very sorry that he lost to Derek last week in Pittsburgh and I would love to see him qualify for the Olympia, but not at the expense of wronging a great bodybuilding legend like William Bonac. William looked phenomenal last week in Pittsburgh and looked even better just one day ago at the New York Pro. At least he got 2nd right? No, that’s hardly a concession. If anything it’s a reminder that no matter what he brings, he’s going to get screwed.

William buried Sas & Regan

What’s ironic is that very few bodybuilding websites gave William any kind of love. The only website that even showed any interest in him – at all – was RX Muscle. And even they put him as the smallest scale competitor on a graphic that included the likes of Regan Grimes and Sas Heirati. Neither of these guys even finished Top 3. And many fans – myself included – were rooting for Bonac to pull off the upset.

Man…, even that sounds silly. William pulling off an upset over Nick Walker. The upset should be Nick beating William, not vice versa.
