If you don’t believe in miracles, Behrouz’ 11th hour visa approval should give you a reason to give them a second look. The fact of the matter is that I wasn’t too optimistic after the first one was rejected almost immediately. I know that Tabani’s coach, Milos Sarcev, seemed cautiously optimistic, but I figured he was just trying to display a positive attituude. Then, almost out of nowhere, it happened. Behrouz got the green light and he’s China-bound. If he wins, he has a path to the Olympia. If he doesn’t, that’s that. And that’s that doesn’t cut it for the Iranian sensation. He’s a proverbial work horse and with no quitting in his game. You can rest assured that the Persian superstar will hit the stage in China with tremendous zeal. He wants the win – not just for the respect and the bag – but he wants to be on that 2026 Olympia stage. They all do, but Tabani has a very real shot.
But, what’s James Hollingshead got to say? The China show was his show. After the big controversy in Portugal, it was all but a foregone conclusion that he’d get his Olympia ticket by putting forth minimal effort and getting the easy win. Now with Behrouz in the mix, British fans in China, particularly Hong Kong, are starting to get a little uneasy. I’m not saying people are returning their champagne purchases, but this has gone from a what could otherwise be described as a warm-up show to potentially being World War 3!! Tabani, with Milos in his corner, aren’t coming all the way to China just for fun.
