Christian Duque: As a site that prides itself on promoting health and nutrition, it's a real treat

something your fans don't know about.

Weight 130 lbs, contest 123 lbs
Compete in figure and fit body Pro in WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation)

Fun Fact: I like to do it all, model, nurse, landscape architect, lover, fighter, Jennie of all trades

Christian Duque: Please tell us when and why you first got started weight training. What
inspired you then and what inspires you today?

Jennie Laurent: I’ve always been an athlete and I love sports and competitions. As a child
growing I up I was very active, inquisitive and driven. I always wanted to be a model and
thought that getting into bodybuilding would be a decent place to start. I began weight training
in high school and after college, I started my first venture in 2012 to compete in figure. I’ve
always been inspired by the professional athletes and models, as I one day saw myself joining
the ranks and making it big. I earn pro cards in 2014 in the figure and fit body categories. I
admire natural bodybuilding and intend to be a lifelong “natty”.

Christian Duque: What would you say was the most challenging part about transforming
your physique? Did you come from an athletic backgrounds or was this your first foray into
sports?

Jennie Laurent: The most challenging part is that I have an autoimmune condition called
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, which is and underactive thyroid, so this makes weight loss extremely
difficult, and I have to be on a very strict diet. I have grown accustomed to this, and I do not
let it hinder my results even if it means I have to work twice as hard as most people to
achieve my goals. I am not and never will be a quitter, and I always find a way. I was always
an athlete growing up, and I take after my parents both in genetics and athleticism. I played
every sport and still engage in recreational activities. I have a healthy addiction to nutrition
and fitness, and I find there is nothing more rewarding than walking around in a trophy body
that I work every day to perfect. Being a model and pro competitor keeps me pushing to
better myself and have a year round beach body.

Christian Duque: With regards to nutrition, what's your approach? What does a typical day
of meals look like for you? Do you trust restaurants when you go out, or, do you always travel
with your meals?

Jennie Laurent: I’ve tried just about every diet out there and have done a great deal of trial
and error to find what works for me. I avoid most processed foods and all junk. I eat only
organic foods, lean meats, and vegetables. I usually eat three meals a day on a timed basis.
Christian Duque: Lets talk about goals, what are some goals for you in the short-term and long-term him? Do you see yourself
in the fitness industry for the long-haul?

Jennie Laurent: I am looking to get sponsored and hope to one day represent a company as a spokes model. For 2015, I plan
on competing in both the spring and fall. I aspire to be a world champion on figure in at least one organization. I hope to turn pro
in other natural organizations as well, and earn a third pro card in bodybuilding. Since fitness is my passion, I do see myself in this
for life. It is a daily investment for me, and health is true wealth.
Christian Duque: It seems a lot of bodybuilders are using massage therapy to stay injury-free, is there a place for massage
therapy for you? Should more women to consider this option? And if so, why?

Jennie Laurent: I love massage therapy and use it on a regular basis. Lifting heavy causes muscle spasms and tension, and to
keep my muscles working in peak condition, I get a massage. This is also very relaxing for me and is a treat to myself for all the
hard work I do.
I rarely eat out, and I cook all my food fresh in the morning. If I have to travel, I customize my meals so that I can stay on my plan.
I count all my macros and I follow an “if it fits your macros” approach.

Christian Duque: In terms of posing, how important is it to effectively display your physique onstage? was this something that
came naturally to you, or did you have to learn over a period of time? How important are posing clinics in your opinion? Would
you recommend them to those of just her out?

Jennie Laurent: Posing is equally as important as obtaining the ideal physique. If you pose poorly, you will not show off all your
hard work. When I first started out, posing seemed to be challenging, but like anything else, I taught myself and sought resources
to learn and improve. I’ve always picked up things quickly, so once I learned the techniques, I saw myself as a natural. I practice
tirelessly and on a daily basis most times. Like anything, the more you do it the better you get. I think it’s great to go to clinics and
classes to get the basics and have a coach who can be your mirror and critique your posing. I highly recommend pursuing
anything that will help improve posing.

Christian Duque: In terms of training, what's your approach in the gym? Are you after lifting the most or are you after being the
most effective?

Jennie Laurent: I think it’s important to lift smart, as in focus on form and tension. Some people focus on the weight and they
lose the basics and fundamentals. To achieve a champion physique, you have to learn you body, feel your muscles, and do it
properly and also avoid injury. I train hard, and I have a balance so that I do not over train and rest adequately. My workouts
change depending on my goals and whether or not I am prepping or trying to gain mass.

Christian Duque: With regards to social media, how important is it today for athletes that want to get sponsored or eventually
earn  professional status to connect with friends and fans throughout the world using the net?

Jennie Laurent: Networking is a great thing and utilizing social media is a great way to get recognized. I have a few facebook
pages and a model/athlete page. I monitor it on a daily basis, and I always thank my fans for their support.
